In recognition of the three journalists who met with a fatal accident en route Ilesa, Osun State at the weekend, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade Abolurin, has expressed his sympathy with the families and friends of the newsmen.

“The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and its affiliates have engendered the love for truth and integrity in Nigerians. It has fearlessly fought for the voice of the common man and it continues to sacrifice for the freedom of ideals and debate. The deaths of Mr Tunde Oluwanike, Kafayat Odunsi and Adolphus Okonkwo is another example of the immeasurable sacrifice the union bears for this nation.

“To the others receiving treatment in various hospitals, we wish you speedy recovery and may God continue to bless the work of your hands and give you the fortitude to bear your loss,” he stated.

Abolurin acknowledged the efforts of the press in promoting the activities and achievement of the corps in safeguarding lives and property, praising it for supporting the corps all over the federation in sensitising and educating the people on issues of security and anti-vandalism.
