The Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has appealed to all stakeholders in the oil industries across in the state and Nigeria at large to support the corps in the provision of logistic to combat pipelines vandals.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Yerima Gana who made the call at the official handing-over of two patrol fans, four motorcycles, arms and ammunitions by the Kwara State Chapter of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN), said the equipment would ensure the protection of pipelines against vandalisation, noting that security is a collective responsibility.
Gana however, commended IPMAN and the entire stakeholders for the good gesture, saying that his men would put them into use to the latter.
Speaking at the event, the state Acting Chairman of IPMAN, Rasheed Olopade noted the handing over was a transition process of transferring of civilian aspect of pipeline security to civil defense.
Royal Times correspondent who was at the event reports that Shagatech Security had been securing the pipelines in the state for more than six years.
The stakeholders include Independent Market Branch, NNPC and Petroleum Transport Department among others.
The IPMAN acting chairman who explained the civil defense is the owner of pipeline, said the development was in line with the new order from above that all private security out should vacate the pipeline and allow civil defence carry out constitutional duties.
