NSCDC arrest suspect over N8.8m job scam

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said on Monday that it had arrested a suspect for defrauding members of the public to the tune of N8.84million.

The Commandant-General of the Corps, Dr Ade Abolurin, told newsmen in Abuja that the suspect was arrested in Ibadan.

Abolurin said that the suspect collected N8.84 million from applicants on the pretext of offering them jobs with the NSCDC and services under the Ministry of Interior.

Abolurin said the suspect, who was parading himself as a Chief Superintendent of the Corps was arrested following intelligence report on his activities by some of his victims.

He said at the time of the arrest, official documents belonging to the board of the Civil Defence, Prisons, Fire and Immigration Service were found his possession.

He said that the suspect was also parading himself in public gatherings as an official of the corps.

According to Abolurin, photographs of the suspect taken with some officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy and the Police were recovered from him.
