The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, has arrested four men for allegedly stealing batteries.

The Commandant of the command, Mr. Clement Adesuyi, told news men that the suspects, Babatunde Lasisi, Taiwo Oyekunle, Sunday Fashe and Osunmakinde Omoniyi, committed the act between January and April.

Adesuyi said the batteries, worth hundreds of thousands of naira, belonged to the National Identity Management Commission.

He said two other suspects, Tayo Bamgbode and Titus Osuntusa, had been declared wanted.

He said, “The suspects arrested confessed that on January 15, 2014, they broke into NIMC office and stole batteries used in powering data capturing machines.

“The suspects confessed that they stole at least 20 batteries at different times between January and April and each one costs about N30, 000.

“Two other key suspects, Tayo Bamgboye and Titus Osuntusa, were able to escape and they have been declared wanted.”

Adesuyi said due to the pressure the command had been mounting on pipeline vandals in the state, they had begun changing their mode of operation.
