NSCDC, others kick against election violence

Following the aftermath of the 2011 general elections, Real Strikers Security Services Limited (RSSSL) in conjunction with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), have concluded plans to ensure that the forthcoming elections will not bring about violence.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing to unveil plan for a nationwide awareness campaign and seminar this month, Managing Director of RSSL, Dr. Joseph Ameh, said it was high time to value lives and property of Nigeria citizens.

Ameh said failure of the political class to provide leadership or legitimate intervention had turned various interest groups in the country to become negatively oriented and radicalised. “Security remains a major threat not only to national and socio-economic development but in particular to our political terrain and immediate communities.

In view of this, we have called for this seminar and public awareness campaign to avoid all forms of security threats targeted at the general elections,” he said.
