NSCDC prosecutes 75 cases in Nasarawa

Nasarawa state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, said it has prosecuted a total of 75 cases bordering on vandalisation of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, cables and other public property by criminals between the periods of January to December, 2013 with many others still being investigated.

State commandant of the corps, Adekin Amos Musa, who disclosed this yesterday in his office while receiving leadership of the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, revealed that the command was able to amicably settled 96 conflict involving some individuals and groups within the same period.

The state Commandant, explained that the corps which started its activities in Lagos was formed 11 years ago with the mandate of ensuring adequate prevention of crime, especially the protection of public property against vandals.

The state NSCDC boss, who underscored the importance of journalism in the promotion of peace and stability in the society, acknowledged that the successes recorded in his command could not have been possible without the support and cooperation of the media and called for the sustenance of the spirit.

Earlier, the state chairman of NUJ, Comrade Dan Yakubu, who led other members of his EXCO on the visit, said they were at the NSCDC commands to seek for a better understanding between men of the corps and Journalists in the state in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities as both the media practitioners and security operatives were working towards the betterment of the society.
