NSCDC Trains IDP Camps Managers

Katsina — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC ) has commenced training of about 300 managers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps from the North-East region on international best practices.

Speaking at the commencement of the five day exercise in Katsina, Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ade Abolurin, said it was necessary to acquaint the managers with standard procedures for the smooth running of the camps, adding that the government whose responsibility it is to ensure protection of fundamental rights of the IDPs needs the cooperation of the managers to do so.

“It is not a good thing to contemplate that families are made to leave the comfort of their homes for no fault of theirs and seek refuge in camps where they face a lot of difficulties,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to appreciate the sacrifices being made by the military in trying to end the insurgency, adding that soon, displaced persons would return to their homes to continue their normal lives.
