Civil defence graduates new armed squad

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Imo State Command has graduated another batch of armed squad at the 343 Artillery Regiment, Elele, Rivers State.     The set is the second batch that has passed out from the Artillery Regiment Elele. The 179 personnel which comprised of officers and men of the corps were drawn from Imo and Bayelsa State Commands.     The personnel were specially trained on weapon handling and use of live arms, convoy drills, internal security duties, stop and search, drills and physical fitness.     Speaking during the passing out ceremony the officer commanding 343 Artillery Regiment Elele, Lt. Col. Mutal Adamu congratulated the armed squad gradaunds for their high level of discipline exhibited during the training period.     According to him, all the rigors they went through during the training period was to keep them abreast with the security network in the country and beyond, adding that “It is better to sweat more in peace time so that you will bleed less in war time”.     Responding, the Imo State Commandant, Adamu Soja S. who represented his deputy (D.C) Philip Ajuba stressed that the training became important as a result of the rising security challenges in the country.     He also advised the officers not to use their acquired knowledge and position to intimidate the innocent citizens but to combat all forms of crime and social vices in the country.     Speaking also the Beyalsa State Commandant, Desmond Agu, who was represented by his deputy (D.C) D.D Gwar encouraged the grandaunts to be true defenders of their country, stressing that Civil Defecce has come to stay and the training exercise will be a continuous one.     Highlight of the occasion was the award of certificates for excellent performance in drill, shooting range, weapon handling to some of the grandaunds who did exceedingly well in aforementioned areas.
