NSCDC arrests three with 950 gallons of fuel

Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested three persons at Fidiwo in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The state NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Kareem Olanrewaju, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday.

According tohim, the suspects, Lateef Salau, Kudirat Taiwo and Odewole Odebunmi, were arrested in the night while scooping fuel from a vandalised pipeline. Items recovered from the suspects are 950 gallons of petroleum productsin25-litrekegs, handsets and other tools used for vandalism

Taiwo alleged that she was called by both Salau and Odebunmi that the fuel was available for purchase.

The suspect added that she did not know their real names but only called them by their nicknames. She said: “The two other suspects and were caught at the spot where we were scooping fuel.

I used to buy 25 litres at N800 and sell at N1,400. I was introduced to the business recently by a friend. This is the second time I would be buying stolen fuel from the suspects.” However, the other suspects denied selling fuel to the woman but accepted knowing her.

Olanrewaju said the denial of the two suspects of not being involved in the crime did not hold water.

According to him, they will be charged to court after investigation.
