NSCDC GraduatePeace Officers in alternative dispute resolution

No fewer than one hundred peace officers have been trained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja.

The five-days Technical Training on principles and practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution for NSCDC peace officers which took place at Civil Defence Academy, Sauka Abuja was organized in collaboration with Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) and United Nations Development (UNDP) towards equipping the peace officers with alternative techniques in combating the current security challenges confronting the nation.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Commandant General, Dr. Ade Abolurin, emphasizes that alternative dispute resolution became imperative to curbing the growing and dynamic trend of violence and crime in the country.

The Commandant General urges the NSCDC peace officers drawn from the 36 states of the Federation including the federal capital territory to be proactive by impacting the knowledge acquired from the training to other officers in their various states command to ensure peace at the grass root levels. He charges them to be outstanding by deploying the skills acquired to ensure impartial mediation in settlement of disputes. According to him,
