NSCDC winning the war against vandals —Abolurin


THE Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ade Abolurin, has said that the corps is winning the war against vandals of public infrastructure.

The corps Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Okeh, in a statement, on Monday, in Abuja, said in fighting the menace of vandalism, the corps had recorded tremendous achievements in the country.

NSCDC was created in 2003 by an Act of Parliament as amended in 2007, saddled with the responsibility of protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure, including petroleum pipelines, gas installation, telecommunication equipment, among others.

Abolurin, disclosed that recently in Ondo State command of the corps, the anti- vandal unit, intercepted and seized 78 kegs of 25 litres and 50 drums loaded with adulterated fuel from suspected vandals.

He said in the cause of the operation, three suspects were arrested with two cars seized from them, while 70 kegs of 25 litres of adulterated diesel were seized from the vandals in Ore axis of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State .

He further stated that two suspected vandals were arrested by the anti – vandal squad of the Cross River Command, saying the suspects had since been charged to court.

The statement said: “In Akwa Ibom State, two suspects arrested by the personnel of the command, were charged to court and convicted.
