Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa state, has appealed to residents of the state to protect power installations in their domain against vandals.

Commandant of the corps in the state, Malam Muhammad Gidado, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Dutse.

Gidado said this was necessary in view of rampant vandalism of power installations.

He said protecting power formations was not the responsibility of security agents alone, but should be a collective effort.

“As beneficiaries, you are supposed to protect power installations in your various communities. You should also report suspicious movements around installations within your communities to the nearest security formation,” he said.

The commandant also warned untrained persons against tempering with power installations to avoid electrocution.

He said the command had put in place measures to ensure that government facilities were protected in the state.
