INSECURITY: Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps trains 310 personnel on use of firearms

Following the presidential approval granted by President Goodluck Jonathan in the full implementation of the provisions of the Act mandating it to be armed, 310 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been trained in Cross River State on how to handle firearms.

State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Benito Eze  disclosed this weekend at the 13 Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters in Calabar at the weekend during the passing out parade of the 2nd Batch of the on-going NSDC arms training.

The NSDC personnel underwent one month training on stripling and assembling of AK47 and other ammunitions, firing of life ammunitions, check point patrols and Basic principles of internal security among others. They were trained by the officers of the 13 Brigade.

Eze also disclosed that some of its personnel were also trained on counter terrorism attacks at the Nigerian Army training School Centre in Niger State.

As trained officers, Eze urged them to desist from intimidating and molesting the civil populace.
